Fourth dose of the vaccine for the vulnerable and over 75 in the spring in Britain

by

The fourth dose of the coronavirus vaccine will be given to the elderly over the age of 75 and those belonging to vulnerable groups in the spring, according to the Minister of Health of the United Kingdom Sajid Javid.

This decision was taken following the establishment of the Joint Vaccination and Immunization Committee (JCVI).

Vaccination immunity decreases over time and many older adults received the booster dose of the vaccine in September or October 2021.

Therefore, these individuals have a much higher risk of serious Covid infection, according to the Commission.

As a result, another boost will be proposed for more than 7 million Britons in the spring.

Specifically, the 4th installment will do:

• Adults aged 75 and over
• Staying in a nursing home for the elderly
• People 12 years of age and older who are immunosuppressed.

“JCVI will continue to consider whether the aid program should be extended to further high-risk groups,” Javid said.

People over the age of 18 will get the Moderna or Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine and people between the ages of 12 and 17 will get the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine.

The UK has already ordered several doses of vaccines to cover the program.

Professor Wei Saint-Lim, Chairman of the Vaccination Committee, said: “Last year’s booster vaccine program has so far provided excellent protection against severe COVID-19. “In order to maintain high levels of protection for the most vulnerable in the population, an additional dose of vaccine is recommended.”
