The State of São Paulo recorded the lowest moving average of hospitalizations for Covid, since the beginning of the pandemic, this Monday (21). There were about 233 patients hospitalized for the disease, considering the last seven days.
According to the Secretary of State for Health, at the peak of the pandemic, hospitalizations reached 3,399, on March 26, 2021, and 1,521, on January 29 of this year, during the circulation of the ômicron variant.
In a note, the government said that the advance of vaccination, which has already reached the goal of 90% of the eligible population with two doses and more than 103 million immunizations applied, has directly reflected in the reduction of hospitalizations for the new coronavirus.
The state has been recording fewer than 300 admissions a day since March 11. Deaths from Covid-19 are also falling. This Monday, the moving average was 81 deaths. Since March 15, the rate has been below 100 deaths.
Last Thursday (17), the use of a mask was no longer mandatory in closed environments in the state of São Paulo.
The announcement was made by Governor João Doria (PSDB). However, hospitals, health services, public transport and access points such as subway and train stations and bus terminals are exceptions. In these places, protection against Covid will still be mandatory in São Paulo.
The use of a mask also remains mandatory on planes and in controlled access spaces at airports, such as the boarding area, as per Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) norm.
