Dot was only 20 years old when she decided to pay rent to buy a boat and live on the water with her boyfriend Tristan and their nine-month-old puppy Teddy.
Their landlord, who lived in a dilapidated one-bedroom farmhouse with her boyfriend, warned them for three months because they wanted to sell their house after they moved.
Shocked by the sudden eviction, Dot and her friend Tristan decided to take an unconventional approach to modern life, opting out of their rental for good in September 2021.
As we delved into the unknown, the results turned out to be more “perfect” and “rewarding” than we previously imagined.
Now 21 with a loyal following on TikTok and Instagram, Dot has an account called @tanglewoodandtwo and sees her life on a 25-year-old boat.
Dorty told him about her decision to leave life because she knew it and move to her cramped boat, Tenglewood.
Monthly costs are reduced by approximately 50% and you will continue to read and explore Tanglewood.
Last summer, Dot and her boyfriend rented a one-bedroom cabin in Cambridge.
“When they took us there, it collapsed quite a bit, but in six months we completely changed places,” he tells us.
How much they changed the location, and then gave the property a new lease of life, so the owner decided to sell it, given three months’ notice of the move.
She explained that when they discussed their options, she and her boyfriend also loved the character’s house, but realized they didn’t have enough deposits to buy it.
Neither of them wanted a new building, they decided not to use the aid to buy the plan.
After the sale, something moved the wheels (or pads).
“I always thought I was happy to live in a cramped boat, but I didn’t expect to get there in four months,” he said.
“It has always been very difficult to clarify the issue of boat navigation,” he explains.
“We had a lot of, ‘Why do you want it?’
Since boarding the ship, he has followed the process on social media. Often one question is asked more often than the other.
Dottie’s most frequently asked question is about the cost of living on her boat and if it’s cheaper than renting.
“It’s cheaper. Yes, especially now it costs life, but it always costs a little more to maintain it because it causes problems much more often than at home.”
“We also repaired the boat and spent a fair amount of money doing it.”

In addition to the usual cost of operating a narrow boat, Dot admits that it needs to be repaired and there is still a long way to go.
“We have completely changed the kitchen and living room with many colors, and now we start to add perfection to the home.
“We have just laid down new flooring and converted a small outdoor area into a garden with artificial grass and benches.”
He explains how their bathroom renovation is on the list, and then they plan to clean the bedroom before treating the exterior walls.
He planned to paint the exterior of the Tanglewood, and the dealers followed the 10,000 10,000 points, so he painted it himself.

Unsurprisingly, life in the water is very different from life on land. It’s picturesque and idyllic, but it has its own problems.
“Ships are much more mechanical,” says Dot, before explaining what Tanglewood is like.
“Once a month, you need to fill the water tank with water to fill the tap with clean water, fill the electric smart card with water, and fill the diesel with water.
“There is also a lot to do with the boat. It has leaked 200 liters of water since we moved in in October. Twice. Our heating is broken, which means no hot water.”
Dotty explained to us that things could go wrong and to prepare, but she found that she appreciates the little things in life after living on a boat.
“What I say about living on the water is that it makes you grateful for the little things in life,” he adds.
It needs more attention, but it’s a much slower lifestyle.
And the people! “The people are beautiful and our port has a sense of community. They will do anything for everyone.”
When asked if the average employer would recommend living in a narrow boat, Dotty was quick to say that she knew her lifestyle wasn’t right for everyone.
“But honestly, if you like adventure and nature, great,” he says.
Explaining that living on a narrow boat is very “rewarding”, Dot doesn’t consider it “forever”.
He believes that his boat is worth “much” more than what he bought for five years, since the current demand is very great.
“That’s really now,” he confirmed.
“Finally, I want you to put it on AirBnB and try it out before you jump on the boat and buy it.”
When asked if she would spend the money she saved living on a boat for a hippo, a jury trial came out, but Dot said life on the water was still on the horizon.
“It could be because there are some incredibly wide ships with quite a few houses on the water.”
