(News Bulletin 247) – Air India, the airline belonging to the Tata group, has announced its intention to acquire 250 Airbus aircraft in order to boost its domestic and international operations.

This order, which includes single-aisle aircraft, 140A320neo and 70A321neo, and wide-body aircraft, 34A350-1000 and six A350-900s, aims to modernize and expand the airline’s fleet, which intends to offer a full service meeting the growing demand for the region.

Deliveries should begin at the end of 2023 with a first A350-900.

‘The expansion of our network, combined with the upgrading of our products, is a key element of our transformation. This order opens a new chapter in the history of Airbus and Air India,” said Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Air India.

Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International adds: ‘Alongside the A350s, the A320 Family aircraft will be an efficient and versatile asset that will help democratize and decarbonize air transport in the country, both for domestic, regional and international flights.’
