(News Bulletin 247) – Solvay announces today that the production of its hydroquinone (HQ) and its hydroquinone monomethyl ether (MeHQ) in Saint-Fons, France, has been accredited to comply with the mass balance of the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS system.

HQ and MeHQ are frequently used as building blocks in the formulation of polyetheretherketone (PEEK), liquid crystal polymer (LCP) and other high performance engineering thermoplastics.

Other areas of industrial application include rubber chemical synthesis, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.

“Offering mass-balance certified grades illustrates our commitment to driving change towards high-quality, sustainable solutions,” comments Jo Grosemans, Solvay’s Director of Natural Growth.

Solvay’s Hydroquinone MB and MeHQ MB certified renewable products provide an instant solution for customers looking to replace synthetic grades based on fossil feedstocks.
