(News Bulletin 247) – BAE Systems announces that the Joint Counter-Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office (JCO), the office in charge of anti-drone systems in the United States, has successfully tested its APKWS® laser guidance kits in the part of a mission involving counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS).

APKWS kits turn unguided rockets into smart munitions for precision strikes on soft, lightly armored targets. This system can target Class 2 and Class 3 drones, which typically weigh less than 55 pounds.

During the Department of Defense-led exercise at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, the APKWS 70mm guided rockets demonstrated 100% effectiveness when fired against 25- to 50-pound drones traveling at over 100 miles per hour.

APKWS Laser Guide Kits are produced at BAE Systems’ state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hudson, New Hampshire.
Kits are available to all United States armed forces as well as allies through Foreign Military Sales.
