(News Bulletin 247) – The first ‘made in Leipzig’ cosmetic products are coming off the lines of the new Beiersdorf factory in Leipzig-Seehausen, the company announces.
Deodorants, lacquers and shaving foams sold under the NIVEA, 8×4 and Hidrofugal brands are now produced there for the European market. Around 200 employees will produce up to 450 million cosmetic products for the European market each year.
The company has invested nearly 300 million euros in this ultramodern and sustainable production center located in the heart of Europe. Together with the logistics platform being built on nearby land, the plant represents Beiersdorf’s largest single-site investment worldwide.
‘By using state-of-the-art production technology that includes fully automated and digitized processes, we have almost doubled our level of productivity and are producing in the most sustainable way,’ said Harald Emberger, member of the executive committee of the company and senior vice president of supply chain.
