LONDON (Reuters) – Kingfisher, owner of the Castorama and Brico Depot brands in France, on Wednesday blamed poor weather conditions for falling sales of its gardening and barbecue items despite improving trends in april.
Revenue for the three months to the end of April was £3.3 billion (€3.78 billion), down 3.3% on a like-for-like basis.
Kingfisher said seasonal categories, meaning those affected by weather, were down 11% over the period.
The group’s managing director, Thierry Garnier, assured in a statement that the commercial situation has improved since the beginning of April.
Against this backdrop, Kingfisher said it was comfortable with market expectations for adjusted pre-tax profit for the full year of 634 million pounds, down 16% year on year.
