(News Bulletin 247) – Accenture announced Monday its intention to acquire Green Domus, a Brazilian consulting firm specializing in sustainable development, for an amount that has not been disclosed.
Created in 2005, Green Domus supports companies in implementing their sustainability strategy, in particular thanks to its expertise in the so-called ‘Science-Based Target initiative’ (SBTi) criteria, the current reference standard for assessment of strategies for reducing CO2 emissions within the meaning of the objectives of the Paris agreement.
Accenture explains that this acquisition will allow it to strengthen its know-how in the field, in particular following the recent adoption in Europe of the carbon border adjustment scheme (CBAM) which aims to discourage EU companies from moving their production to countries with more flexible climate change policies.
According to the consulting giant, only 7% of multinationals currently say they are on track to achieve their goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
