(News Bulletin 247) – Thales and content delivery network provider Netskrt Systems have announced their collaboration to offer passengers full access to streaming video services during the flight.
When hosted on Thales’ Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity System (IFEC), Netskrt’s Edge Content Delivery Network (eCDN) will deliver direct-to-consumer content to in-seat screens and personal devices . On-demand content is stored on board and regularly updated.
Passengers will be able to instantly stream their favorite entertainment content using their personal video streaming subscriptions.
The solution will optimize satellite connectivity consumption by ensuring bandwidth is available for other connected in-flight services.
“Our collaboration will create opportunities for new direct-to-consumer video streaming partner integrations to deliver a high-quality passenger experience,” said Kurt Weidemeyer, Vice President, Thales InFlyt Experience.
