(Reuters) – American Airlines suspended all U.S. flights on Tuesday due to an unspecified technical problem, according to the airline and a notice posted on the U.S. Federal Administration website. aviation (FAA).

“A technical issue is affecting American flights this morning. Our teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and we apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” American Airlines said in a statement sent to Reuters.

Massive flight shutdowns have disrupted many travelers’ plans in the past. In 2022, Southwest Airlines experienced a system outage that lasted several days.

American Airlines has not said when it expects to resolve the incident but asked passengers on social media X to message it to resolve ticketing and transfer issues.

The airline operates thousands of flights per day to more than 350 destinations in more than 60 countries.

The FAA was not immediately available for further comment.
