London (Reuters) – Shein said Thursday increase its product tests this year, after the European Union (EU) threatened the Chinese fines group if it did not respond to the concerns of the dangerous products sold on its site.

The low -cost fashion giant announced to target 2.5 million safety and product quality tests in 2025, against 2 million last year. He also stressed that he would spend $ 15 million (13.29 million euros) for compliance initiatives this year.

Shein, which sells its own clothes in 150 countries, also operates an online market for toy sellers, gadgets and household items, sent directly to buyers from around the world from factories mainly located in China.

Since the launch of its online platform, Shein has ceased to work with more than 540 sellers due to breaches of regulations, the group said.

The network of national consumer protection authorities and the European Commission notified a number of practices on its platform in Shein on Monday which breach EU consumer law, giving it a month to respond to their concerns.
