(BFM Stock Exchange) – During the past year, groups of the extended index of the Paris Stock Exchange paid a total of 6.87 billion euros in profit -sharing bonuses (participation, profit -sharing, PEE/Perco subscription) to their employees, a record since the launch of the Eres barometer. An average of almost 6,000 euros per employee.

Large French companies were still generous with their employees last year.

The profit -sharing bonuses paid by the companies of the SBF 120 (a stock market index including CAC 40 companies as well as 80 other companies, which collectively represent more than 80% of the capitalization of the Parisian market) reached a new record in 2024, at 6.87 billion euros, according to the 2025 edition of the profit -sharing barometer carried out by ERES, specialized advisory group.

This amount increased by 5.3% compared to the year 2023, which was already a record year with an envelope of 6.52 billion euros donated to employees of companies in the second flagship index in Paris.

“The amount of participation, profit-sharing or subscribing bonuses paid in 2024 on Savings Entreprise (PEE) or business retirement plans (Pereco), exceeds 5% the amount distributed in 2023 which was already exceptional. There is an increase of almost half a billion euros and that, thanks to the significant increase in the payments of profit-sharing bonuses” comments Mathieu Chauvin from the ERES group.

Between 2020 and 2024, the total bonuses paid increased by almost 72%.

Regarding the methodology, ERES relied on a sample composed of 72 companies from the SBF 120. The firm then analyzed public data (universal registration documents, press releases, reports from the general meetings of shareholders) and communications from union sites.

An average premium of 6,000 euros

Reported by employee, the average sharedowment of profit sharing through the mechanisms of participation, profit -sharing or subscription, therefore amounts to almost 6,000 euros in 2024. In addition to the premiums to share profit, the amount paid to French employees who are shareholders of their group (within the framework of the employee shareholding and always within the SBF 120) amounts to almost 7,000 euros.

“In 2024, SBF120 companies not only made efforts to increase their overall envelope of profit sharing premiums, but above all they have benefited from new employees in their collective agreements”, comments Mathieu Chauvin, who indicates that, to date, nearly 700,000 SBF 120 employees benefit from the profit -sharing agreements against 620,000 in 2023.

A record premium of 22,400 euros per employee

Behind this positive assessment, Eres also points to significant differences in the level of premiums distributed between companies. According to the consulting group, 17% of them paid a bonus of less than 1,000 euros per employee while 13% distributed bonuses greater than 10,000 euros per employee.

Some companies are even more generous with their employees since the Record Prime for Personal Sharing has been almost 22,400 euros.

“The results of 2024 are very encouraging; we have noted for 3 years now that the profit -sharing bonuses go beyond participation premiums while they are optional and fall under the will of the companies to advance the sharing of value”, also rejoices Mathieu Chauvin.

More than a third of the employees of the SBF 120 are also shareholders of their company, revealed the last panorama of employee shareholding carried out each year since 2006 by the firm ERES. Or nearly 2.4 million shareholder employees.

Last year, 43 collective operations were carried out by 37 companies in the SBF 120, in the form of capital increases reserved for employees or sales of shares. Among these companies, two initiated their first employee shareholding operation, namely the software publisher for professionals Planisware, listed since April 2024, and more surprising, the luxury giant LVMH.
