In the context of many months and systematic research of Police of the Heraklion Departmentunder the supervision of the Serres Prosecutor’s Office and following an order from the Serres Investigator, the activity of a circuit, which operated an illegal nursing home, was verified, reports the Thesstoday.gr.
The police investigation followed the location of a hostel in the area of ​​Serres in October 2020, which was operating illegally hosting the elderly and people with mobility problems, while the person in charge of the hostel had been arrested.
For the case, the details of an additional 6 people were identified and specifically a case file was formed against:
-the aforementioned arrested man and two women, on a case-by-case basis for gang, report, drug law violation, breach of disease prevention and incitement to issue and use of false medical certificates,
-man and woman, doctors, for issuing and using false medical certifications and
-two men, in charge of funeral offices, for synergy in the issuance and use of false medical certifications.
In particular, according to the police investigation, at least from August until October 16, 2020, the man who had been arrested as the person in charge of the hostel, together with the two women, acted as a circuit with distinct roles and had transformed this hostel in a nursing home, for the purpose of illegal financial gain.
It was ascertained that the hostel, which operated without the necessary permission, was home to the elderly and people with mobility problems, in poor living conditions and without hygiene measures, while drug tablets were found, for which the required prescriptions did not exist.
Further investigation revealed that in September and October 2020, in 2 cases of death of elderly women living in the hostel without medical care, the aforementioned locals operating in the hostel, together with the two doctors and the two heads of the funeral homes, covered the death of women, so that it appears that they died in the homes of their relatives.
In particular, in order not to reveal the illegal nursing home and the improper care they provided, they hid the death of the two women, who were transported to the homes of their relatives with the assistance of the heads of the funeral offices and then with the issuance of certificates by the two doctors. , falsely asserted that the death occurred in the above houses.
The case file that was formed was re-submitted to the Investigative Authorities of Serres.
