At the age of 79, the famous singer Dakis passed away. He has been battling cancer for the last two years. Dakis was a man without age, as many of his friends report. It is true that he had found a way to be loved by different ages and whenever he went out on the track he “honored” his audience.

His name was Brasidas Charalambidis. As he had revealed when he went to sign his first contract, Matsas told him: “Do not! If you sing rebetiko, okay. But let κης Dakis “.

His childhood

His carefree childhood was near the sea in a multinational neighborhood, in a multicultural society in Alexandria. His mother’s brother is the operetta actor, his cousins are Demis Roussos and the musicians Kalathopoulos, who worked with Mouskouri, with Bob Azzam.

His experiences as a child defined him with influences from singers such as Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Becaud, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and later Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand.

At their house in Alexandria, the radio he loved was constantly playing, stuck in the BP Program, felt touching Greece listening to the voices of Giovanna, Mouskouri, Vogiatzis … until the moment when the accountant arrived at the house in a large company and unrelated to his music father … and he closed it.

His music track

He came to Athens to study and accidentally found himself singing in Kifissia, in 1964, at the youth hangout “Auto-club”, where he heard the Playboys – a successful band of the time – the owner of “Argo” in Vouliagmeni and excited asks for his shop. The album “Deep in the heart of Athens” follows and Dakis lives in Greece.

For the discography of the time it was a lottery. An LP “Hello, thank you”, while in the distant 1968 Mimis Plessas wrote the “Truth” for the film “La coeur chaud”, shot in Rhodes, and immediately after his great success “So many summers” for Dalianidis’s film “Mermaids and dudes”. She sings in Finos’s studios having the most impressive costume design of the film, which he chose for the specific scene from the collection of Tseklenis’s showcase. Two years later, Plessas wrote about him “That morning in Kifissia”, “I was collecting rain in my hands”, “Girl, stop telling me”, “On page 18” and “Little wind”. The sequel is known … Everyone wanted to work with him.

The battle with cancer

As the singer had said, “sometimes you have a power. I’m a coward but I do not know what happened. I was not immediately told that I had cancer. I was in pain and they saw that I had colon cancer. I was told to do a colonoscopy and I did not. And when they operated on me, they told me that I was in the 4th stage and that I was 6 months old. My friends and relatives were with me. They did not tell me. It seems that I saved her. I was not afraid… I do not know how this happens».

The news of the death was announced through her personal Twitter account by his good friend and his wife Mimi Plessa, Loukilla Plessa-Carrer. More specifically, he wrote: “At the dawn of summer you chose to leave my soul…. You who made us love summers… .. so many summers…. Rest… .I will always love you… “I was waiting for this summer without a cloud with no sorrows But but the sun did not warm me».
