The police officers of the Alexandroupolis Security Department, who had the information about the specific action, located the involved persons, among whom is the ELAS officer and the soldier who systematically received false certificates that they had done a rapid test, in order to present them to their services.
Following this finding, a team from the Internal Affairs Service of Northern Greece from Thessaloniki, which took over the case, went to Alexandroupolis.
So far, a total of 10 people have been arrested – the pharmacist, the police, the military and seven others – while the investigations continue and after their completion, announcements will be made by ELAS.
The police are examining all the possibilities and whether the action of the circuit is limited to the fake rapid tests or has other extensions.
The Association of Pharmacists of Evros also issued a statement on the case, stating: “We were informed by the press that a pharmacy in the area of Soufli was registering in its system IDIKA false COVID-19 certificates. It goes without saying that delinquent behaviors, especially in the sensitive area of health, are absolutely reprehensible, if they are proven. Pharmacies throughout this period, with a sense of responsibility, have stood up to the circumstances by selflessly denying the difficult role assigned to them. Individual incidents can in no way characterize an entire industry. The Pharmaceutical Association of Evros is at the disposal of the competent authorities in order to help with whatever means it has in the clarification of the case “.
