The delimitation of the Pikrodafni stream begins after 18 years

Its demarcation begins Pikrodafni stream after 18 years of waiting, as the Presidential Decree was issued in the Official Gazette, which ratifies the setting its boundaries, from the slopes of Mount Hymettus to its estuary to the sea.

In particular, as announced by the Attica Region, the Presidential Decree determines the boundaries of the fringes of Mount Hymettus up to its estuary at sea, as well as parts of the parties to it streams of Amalia (St. Demetrius), Monks and Reedsin the area of ​​Municipalities Βύρωνα, ΗλιούποληςSaint Dimitriou, Alimou and Paleo Faliro (Prefecture of Attica).

The object of the study / project, includes the Arrangement of the Pikrodafni stream (from Vouliagmenis Avenue to the estuary) and the regeneration of the riparian zone.

It should be noted that with the modification of the road plans of the neighboring Municipalities, as they appear after the definition of the boundaries of the stream, the completion of the study for the regeneration of the coastal zone will proceed. At the same time, works will be carried out that will prevent floods, problems of sloping slopes, retreat of roads, replacement of dangerous bridges, etc.

On the occasion of the relevant development in his statements the Governor of Attica G. Patoulis pointed out the following:

“The demarcation of the Pikrodafni stream is a development of historical importance for us, as after years of waiting, regressions and delays, a project of crucial value begins for the citizens of Attica and especially for the residents of the Southern Sector.
Working with system, method and perseverance, we managed to overcome all the problems, bureaucratic entanglements and obstacles and to achieve a goal, which began 18 years ago.
We can now move on to the next phase with respect for the environment, guided by the safety of citizens and the upgrading of their quality of life, contributing to the progress, development, security and upgrading of the quality of life of citizens. Our constant goal is to restore the sense of security of the citizens and to shield Attica from catastrophic natural phenomena, the intensity of which is expected to increase due to climate change. And we are focused on this goal every day, speaking with deeds and not with words. I would like to warmly thank the competent Directorate of Technical Services of the Region for the effort, method and coordinated moves made by its worthy executives, in order to achieve this excellent result “.

The contract for the study of the project was signed in 2004

It is worth noting that the contract for the preparation of the study of the project was awarded following a tender, in accordance with the procedures of Law 716/77 and was signed on 01/3/2004 between the Prefecture of Athens and the contractor.

The station in the whole process was the no. 169275 / 31-12-2021 decision of the Decentralized Administration of Attica (ΑΔΑ: 6Μ4ΒΟΡ1Κ-Υ1Η) approving the Environmental Terms for the implementation of the project “Pikrodafni stream settlement”, which was the result of diligent effort and harmonious coordination Region and Decentralized Administration.
