Mandra: Deputy mayor punched a female deputy mayor and sent her to hospital

An unprecedented incident in the history of local government unfolded on Wednesday at his town hall Municipality of Mandra-Eidylliawhen the unpaid deputy mayor, Meletis Adam, attacked and punched the deputy mayor, Sotirias Argyriouwhile in the office of the Secretary-General.

Mr. Adam Until yesterday, he was the Deputy Mayor for Civil Protection and Fire Safety and the authorized advisor of School Units and Sports Facilities in the Municipality, while Ms. Argyriou was and remains the Deputy Mayor for Finance.

The incident took place in front of the frightened eyes of the general secretary and the director of the Municipality and as a result Ms. Argyriou was first transferred to the Elefsina Health Center and then to the General Hospital of Nikaia “Agios Panteleimon”.

The Mayor, Christos Stathis, as soon as he was informed about the incident, he ordered the dismissal of the deputy mayor from his duties and on June 23 a relevant decision was issued. The decision states that: “Mr. Adam used physical violence against the Deputy Mayor, resulting in her injury, which is certified by medical opinions of the Elefsina Health Center and the Nikaia Piraeus State Hospital. The fact that such behaviors are completely contrary to its principles and positions Municipal Authorityas we consider that the holders of public office should by their behavior not only adorn them, but also be an example to others».
