Criminals who “specialize” in exploding ATMs in order to extort sums of money, police authorities estimate that they acted in the early hours of the morning at the hospital Shismanoglio.

According to police sources, the perpetrators were four, two of whom wore medical suits and surgical masks, while one he was dressed in covid uniform, so as not to give a target to the hospital staff. After threatening the security officer with a gun, they headed to the ATM located inside the hospital and using explosives blew up the ATM.

The ATM was completely destroyed but the perpetrators were unable to take the cash boxes as the alarm was raised in time and they fled.

Men from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Department arrived at the scene where they collected debris from the explosion in order to determine the type of explosive device used.

Yet another explosion that almost happened half an hour earlier at DOU Amarousiou troubled the police and considered the possibility that the two explosions were related. As the investigations of the authorities progress, this scenario is removed.

The explosion that occurred at the hospital was described to skai.gr the president of the panhellenic federation of public hospital workers Michalis Giannakos who as he said characteristically miraculously we did not mourn human lives since the explosion occurred inside the hospital.

He even underlined that in the last period we had similar robberies in other hospitals as well.
