Businessman Márcio Macedo Sobrinho, a partner at Gana Gold, currently MM Gold, a company investigated by the Federal Police for illegal mining in the northern region of the country, lavished a life of luxury.

Photos, exchanges of messages and documents collected by the PF in the operation Ganância, which started on Thursday (7), show millionaire transactions in their accounts and expenses with helicopters, speedboats, imported truck and a wedding party packed to the sound of famous country duos.

A PF report exposes the financial transactions of Macedo and his business group and shows that, between 2020 and 2021, illegal gold mining generated approximately R$ 1.1 billion for the garimpeiro.

as showed the Sheetthe PF claims that the business group led by Macedo is suspected of illegal gold mining and would have moved around R$16 billion between 2019 and 2021. Part of the amounts from the mining would have been laundered in cryptocurrencies.

The Ghana Gold company, according to the investigation, “heated” the gold extracted illegally in mines in the northern region of the country. For this, it used invalid environmental licenses, extrapolating the research limits it had.

The company could not be reached by the report for comment on the allegations.

In a document attached to the search and arrest request, the PF details through photos how the businessman spent part of the money from illegal mining.

Macedo’s wedding, for example, had two famous country couples as an attraction. Bruno and Marrone, from the classics Dormi na Praça and Choram as Rosas, and Jads and Jadson sang at the event.

“According to open websites, the fee for the first pair is approximately R$220,000 and that of the second reaches R$80,000, high amounts spent only on the wedding bands”, says the PF.

The investigators also list in the document photos of Macedo’s luxury goods, all with a sticker with his particular logo: the MM, initials of his name.

Among the photos added to the report by the investigators are a speedboat with the name “Garimpeiro”, imported truck, helicopter and planes.

Another asset that the PF points out to Macedo’s luxury life is the mansion in Novo Progresso (PA).

“The ostentation of Márcio’s residence in the Municipality of Novo Progresso/PA stands out, from where he manages the entire structure of his illegal mining in the state, totally different from other properties in the region, especially because it has its own heliport on the property.”

The prospector also had an intercepted conversation in which he reported his intention to build a new mansion, this one in Goiânia (GO).

In the future residence, Macedo intended to build a helipad. “If it’s not to have a helipad, what is it worth to invest in a place like this? I’m already used to helicopters. I have two helicopters, understand?”, he said to the interlocutor named Priscilla.

Then he explains that the goal was to build another mansion along the lines of the one he maintains in Novo Progresso.

“Priscila, I’m going to build a house, a really good mansion, you know? Technology, modern design, using wood, you know? It’s because you didn’t come to my house in Progresso, right? I like a little rustic train too.”
