The MOD imposed a final sentence of 12 years in prison on Dimitris Lignadis for two rapes of 17-year-old boys in 2015.

The combined twelve-year sentence was reached by a 4-3 majority, with one juror, the presiding judge and a regular judge opining that the defendant should be sentenced to a total of eleven years in prison.

The prosecutor asked that the appeal for the former head of the National Theater not have a suspensory effect, judging that Dimitris Lignadis is suspected of committing new crimes and there will be no recognition on his part of the acts for which he was found guilty by the court.

Dimitris Lignadis completes 17 months of temporary detention in a few days.
