Deer Moon: Tonight is the biggest full moon of 2022

Tonight we will see the biggest one in the sky full moon of the year, which is also called “Deer Moon”a phenomenon that will be visible for 3 approximately 24 hours according to NASA.

July’s super full moon will also be the third of four that will take place for 2022, the fourth and last we will see in August. The magazine “Almanac” reports that this full moon will be the biggest and brightest for the whole of 2022, as the Moon will come closer than ever this year to Earth, at a distance of only 356,418 kilometers in its orbit.

In other words, it is a full moon which takes place only a few times a year. THE super full moon that we will watch in the evening is called the “Deer Moon” and, as reported by “Space” magazine, it will light up the summer sky on July 13, Wednesday. Its brightness is expected to peak at approximately 9:37 p.m.

The brightness of the upcoming super full moon is set to reach 100%, which means the “Deer Moon” will appear about 16% brighter and 7% larger than a normal full moon.

It is noted that generally the difference in size and brightness of a super full moon is not visible to the naked eye, however Sky and Telescope explains that the super full moon may appear larger than a simple full moon just before sunset.

The full moon in question has other names such as “Full Moon of Lightning”, “Full Moon of Hay”, “Full Moon of Water Honey”, but the most prevalent is “Full Moon of the Deer”, as according to tradition every year at this time, the new antlers of the male deer were beginning to emerge from their foreheads “covered” with velvety and soft fur.
