A fire brigade helicopter with a four-member crew that was trying to extinguish the fire in Palaichori, Samos, crashed. Two of the four crew members lost their lives while the Coast Guard spotted and rescued the pilot

According to the first information, the impact took place at the location of Agios Minas, in the sea area of ​​Plaka, north of Paleochori.

In fact, the local media outlet SAMOS24.GR posted on social media a photo that allegedly captures the moment of the fall.

This is a type of Mi 8 Samos helicopter that had been sent earlier to extinguish the fire that broke out at around 14:00. At the sea location of Plaka Samos, a rescue search mission has been launched.

The helicopter was carrying a crew of three from abroad and a Greek liaison officer. According to information the helicopter had taken off from Samos at 16:39 and the accident happened at 17:55.

Winds of 6 Beaufort prevail in the area where the fire was being extinguished. The crew of the E/P was one Romanian, two Moldovans and one Greek translator.

The second Mi8 immediately started investigations in the area and the Coast Guard ship has also arrived.
