It is no exaggeration to say that we are all looking for the best deal, as the cost of living crisis affects everyone.
And if you live in the Devon countryside, you may be in luck.
A petrol station sells the cheapest fuel in the UK, costing less than 20p per litre, less than the national average.
The Shell petrol station at Trago Mills in Newton Abbot sells unleaded petrol at 169.9 pence a litre, compared to the national average of 190.65 pence calculated by the RAC.
This means that people living in small towns can replenish for less than £100. This is a bit of a dream as it is a tall order at the moment.
Drivers can save £10 by filling an average 55-litre car fuel tank.
The outlet also sold diesel at 181.9 pence, compared to the national average of 198.42 pence.
RAC has criticized major retailers, such as supermarkets, for not lowering prices that can be saved for modest customers.
RAC states:
Simon Williams, spokesman for RAC fuel, said:
“We know that the major membership retailers also sell both fuels at more competitive prices, and frankly, they are much more equitable to drivers.
“The current cost of living crisis is being felt strongly by car-dependent families, and the fact that most retailers are still paying much more due to the drop in wholesale prices in recent weeks seems pretty inexcusable.
“Once again, we’re calling on all major fuel retailers to lower prices to reflect the lower prices paid to purchase fuel in the first place and help drivers through the very expensive summer.”
