The European Union’s Copernicus Emergency Management Service – Mapping service was activated by the Planning and Emergency Response Directorate of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection, as a National Contact Point following the order of the General Secretary of Civil Protection.
The purpose of the activation is the production of cartographic products and data for the “Dadia” area of the P.E. Evros, which was affected by a fire that occurred on Thursday, July 21, to support the work of the agencies involved in dealing with emergencies and managing the consequences of the phenomenon.
The request was accepted by the European Union (activation code EMSR605) and the availability of a series of cartographic data and products resulting from the analysis of satellite images is expected immediately.
The data and maps of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service/Mapping Service will be made available directly by the Planning and Emergency Response Directorate of the General Secretariat of Civil Protection to all involved bodies free of charge for the management of their project.
