A pregnant woman lost her child in Thessaloniki: The announcement of the “Papageorgiou” hospital

The hospital issued a statement Papageorgiou of Thessalonikion the occasion of complaint of a pregnant woman who went to the emergency room of the Hippocrates hospital with pain and bleeding, she was examined and then referred to the “Papageorgiou” hospital, as a result of which precious time was lost and finally her newborn child lost his life.

The Papageorgiou hospital in its announcement notes that the Hospital staff “acted quickly, with full professionalism and conscientiousness and following all protocols for pregnant women positive for Covid-19”.

Specifically, on February 22, 2022, the husband took his wife to the on-call Hippocrate hospital in Thessaloniki, with severe spasms, pains and bleeding in her 39th week of pregnancy.

At 7:20 a.m., according to the lawsuit filed, the woman was examined by a medical specialist. All the necessary tests were done on the woman about to give birth, however, as the parents claim, the doctor asked them to go to “Papageorgiou” because the on-call period ended at 8:00.

Papageorgiou hospital reports in detail:

“On the occasion of today’s publications regarding the hospitalization of a patient at the Papageorgiou Hospital, as can be seen from the patient’s medical file and the Hospital’s records, she attended the outpatient clinic at 8:40 a.m., due to contractions.

Exam ended at 9:10 am. and it was decided to perform an emergency caesarean section. The patient was then transferred, at 9.30 am, to the Covid-19 surgery.

According to the Hospital’s medical record, the fetus was born without a pulse, was immediately intubated and transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for treatment. The mother was immediately transferred to a Covid-19 ward for treatment and was discharged from Papageorgiou Hospital on 4/3/2022. Upon discharge, she was in good general condition and received instructions from the attending physicians. Papageorgiou Hospital provided a full copy of the medical file to the patient and her legal representative, following the patient’s request on 5/25/2022.

The staff of the Papageorgiou Hospital acted quickly, with complete professionalism and conscientiousness and following all the protocols for pregnant women positive for Covid-19″.
