The mother and her Thai boxer boyfriend were convicted of murdering their 15-year-old son after months of torture campaigns.
In a series of incidents at his home in Huddersfield last year, 15-year-old Sebastian Karinovsky was punched, kicked, punched, beaten to bed, kicked up a ladder and hit with a cable.
On August 13, he suffered multiple raw ribs from the disease, which led to sepsis and fatal organ failure.
Both Agnieszka Kalinowska, 36, and her partner Andrzej Latoszewski, 36, denied the murder, but she admitted to the boy’s atrocity and he admitted to the murder.
Karinovska also claimed that she was dominated by her partner and that she hit Sebastian more gently and less frequently with her partner, a bodybuilder and Muay Thai fanatic.
However, the jury convicted the couple after hearing how they encouraged Ratshevsky’s abuse and held Sebastian while his partner beat the boy.
The abuse was detailed in a “horrifying” video from a CCTV camera partially installed by the couple to “observe and control” Sebastian.
Sebastian moved from Poland to England in 2020, where he lived with his real father.
The new teacher called him a “model student”, but Karinovska and Ratshevsky always accused him of cheating, lying and skipping school.
Sebastian’s mother told the court that hitting her son’s head was “normal parental punishment”, even though he claimed his partner controlled him.
When asked about one incident, Ratzevsky said he wanted to move on because “the usual punishment didn’t work” but as a father, he went too far “because of inexperience.”
The beatings got worse after Sebastian’s semester ended. They also pricked him with a needle, force-fed him, and forced him to do vigorous exercise.
The pair are said to have clothed Sebastian’s body after Sebastian died in the final beating.
A rescuer was called home and he was rushed to the hospital, but he was sentenced to die later that day.
