Roula Pispirigou completely denies the charge attributed to her and concerns the death of her 9-year-old daughter Georgina, according to the apologetic memorandum she submitted today to the 18th investigator Christina Salapa.

The 33-year-old mother from Patras was called today to answer the additional prosecution brought against her for the attempted murder of her 9-year-old daughter.

As the defendant states in her memorandum, there is not the slightest indication or suspicion that she harmed her child from any evidence, while as she says the act is attributed to her by the indictment as a “free estimate”.

The arguments she cites to support her innocence are that during that period Georgina had full communication with the environment and if anyone had committed any hostile action against her it is certain that she would have reported it. Georgina herself repeatedly described the discomforts and symptoms she felt to the doctors.

Her second argument is that when the 9-year-old was admitted to Karamandanio, a blood sample was taken and a complete toxicological test was performed, which is negative for any pharmaceutical or toxic substance.

Then the 33-year-old mother lists the events of the Karamandane hospital in chronological order.

On the night of April 7-8, 2021, Georgina and I slept at my mother’s house in Alissos Achaias. At about 06:00 to 06:30 on the morning of April 8th and while sleeping next to Georgina I noticed that my child started shaking and I woke up to see what was happening. I shook her awake fearing she was having a nightmare and she told me she didn’t understand something, I kissed her, stroked her hair and she fell asleep again. In the next ten minutes she did the same reaction and woke up on her own and asked me “mom, what happened?”, “why am I shaking?”».
She describes the effort she made to understand what happened to the little girl and that Georgina complained to her that her back and stomach hurt and she asked to go to the doctor.

For this reason we decided to take her to the on-call hospital which was Karamandanio that day…. On April 8, Georgina did all the necessary tests on me, without any results and without causing any discomfort at all. The whole day I was constantly with her… The next day, 9-4-2021, in the morning hours, I was informed by the hospital doctors that they would discharge my child. Before we could really get ready, Georgina threw up on me and I informed them about it and expressed my concern because my child’s health problem had not been diagnosed and I didn’t know what I would do if a similar episode happened in home. Then the doctors decided to keep my child in the hospital for further monitoring. After a while, around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, my child woke up with a cough, a tendency to vomit and difficulty breathing, telling me that her stomach hurts. The doctors were notified and these symptoms were conveyed to them with a description made by the child himself, while they also saw them with their own eyes during the examination that followed».

He then mentions the symptoms that Georgina had in the hospital as well as the tests she did and continues on the morning of April 10, which she claims.

My child developed a fever, she was given an antipyretic and then had an abdominal ultrasound, from which they informed me that a gastroenteritis had occurred, while much later, from the child’s medical file, I saw that this particular examination had shown “multiple enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes” . In a telephone conversation they had with the little girl’s father, as I learned from him, they also informed him about the diagnosis of gastroenteritis.

At 11 in the evening of the same day, my child woke up with a cough, a tendency to vomit and stomach pain again. At the same time, the doctors spoke to the child, asked her how she was feeling and she told them that “her stomach hurt”. At the same time, at that particular time, the oxygen began to drop and a mask was placed on her, while the doctors recorded rapid breathing. In this specific incident, my husband and father of the child, Manos Daskalakis, was also present, who had been notified and was present and saw everything with his own eyes. On the same night, a chest examination was done on the child and we were told that he is starting to show symptoms of bronchopneumonia…on the night of April 10-11, 2021, around 3 o’clock, my child developed a fever again, which gradually subsided. I would like to mention that at some moments during her hospitalization I noticed on the machine that the child’s blood pressure was elevated and when I mentioned it to the doctors at the hospital they told me “don’t pay too much attention, the machines are old».

On the morning of April 11th, I left the hospital to go home for a while, following Manos’ prompting, as since April 8th, when she was admitted, I was constantly by my child’s side. From what Manos told me, on the morning of April 11, the child was still complaining of abdominal pain and informed the hospital doctors about it».

He then describes the moment when, while he was back at the hospital and Georgina was sleeping, he heard the sound from the oximeter again, which indicated a drop in the child’s heart rate and oxygen. As stated in the memorandum

“I got up from the chair I was sitting on to go to the door and started ringing the bell to alert the nurses, which was right next to the door to the room. Then I saw my Georgina get out of bed and fall backwards with a sound.’

The doctors asked her to leave the room, she called Manos who arrived at the hospital immediately.

In the nightmarish minutes that followed we saw people coming in and out of the room, without anyone saying anything to us. After some time we heard shouts and applause. Then a doctor came out crying and told us that Georgina had suffered a seizure, but they managed to revive her and she had to be transferred to the ICU of the University Hospital of Rio. Georgina was taken by EKAV to Rio accompanied by Mr. Hasapopoulos, while behind the ambulance followed a procession of cars, in one car I with Manos and in the others all our relatives. I would like to note that in the reported incident my child’s oximeter was never removed or disconnected in any way.

According to the testimony of the witness-doctor who rushed to my Georgina’s room (Dimitropoulos), when the doctors entered the room the child’s pulse oximeter was beeping, which proves that it was connected normally, while their notification on my part was immediate. Finally, in relation to my alleged opposition to the discharge of my child on April 9, 2021, I have to inform you that at the time the discharge of the child was being considered, Georgina vomited on me and I notified the hospital doctors to I inform them about this and express my concern, a fact that is also confirmed by the doctors of Karamandanei themselves.

Afterwards, and after they examined my child, they THEMSELVES decided to continue his hospitalization. On that particular day, my child himself had reported and described in detail to the doctors the discomforts he had and complained of severe abdominal pain. In accordance with all of the above, I repeat the obvious to you, that is to say, that I deny the imputed accusation in its entirety».
