The week’s weather: High temperatures without 40s

The advance of the heat wave in the last twenty-four hours turned Greece “into a furnace” making the atmosphere especially in the big cities of the territory suffocating.

Despite the fact that the mercury was estimated to reach its maximum mainly over the weekend and today, the temperature seems, according to meteorological forecasts, to remain at high levels throughout the week despite the small drops that are expected.

In any case, tomorrow the temperatures seem unlikely to “hit” the forties with Attica estimated to reach a maximum of 38 degrees Celsius with the mercury even expected to record a drop of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in coastal areas.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS – WARNINGS

Generally clear weather with temporary clouds in the continental areas in the midday and afternoon hours, so it is possible that there will be local rain in the mountains of Macedonia.

Winds will blow from north directions 3 to 5 and in the Aegean locally 6 Beaufort. The temperature will rise slightly mainly in the east. It is predicted that it will reach 35 to 37 degrees in the north, 38 to 39 in the rest of the continent and in the lowland areas of Thessaly and Sterea possibly 40 degrees Celsius. In the island country it will reach 33 to 35 degrees while in the Ionian islands, the Dodecanese and Crete 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.

Generally clear weather. Clouds will develop in the continental areas during the midday and afternoon hours and local rain will occur in the central and northern highlands.
Winds will blow from north directions 3 to 5 and in the Aegean 6 and on Friday locally up to 7 Beaufort.

The temperature will rise slightly mainly in the west on Saturday.
