Fires: Romanian firefighters leave Greece – French, Norwegian, Finnish arrive

More than 200 Firefighters from Bulgaria, France, Germany, Romania, Norway and Finland are gradually being deployed in Greece for the two months of July-August and are assisting in the fire protection of our country, exchanging valuable know-how with their Greek colleagues.

Their Romanian Firefighters who stayed in our country for a month as part of the pre-positioning pilot project, the political leadership of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and the leadership of the Fire Brigade will say goodbye on Friday, July 29.

The event will be attended by the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianidis and the Chief of the Fire Brigade, Lt. General Alexios Rapanos, while from the Romanian side, the Minister of the Interior, Lucian Bode and the Deputy Minister of the Interior responsible for dealing with emergencies, Dr. Raed Arafat. The Romanian mission consisted of 56 Firefighters deployed in two consecutive shifts of 28 people per 15 days for the entire month of July.

In addition, on Monday August 1stthe political leadership of the Ministry and the leadership of the Fire Brigade, will be welcomed 25 French Firefighterswho arrive in Attica, where they will remain for the whole of August.

At the same time, within the next week, the German and Bulgarian Firefighters depart from Tripoli and Larissawhile the corresponding shipments arrive in our country from Norway and Finland.

It is reminded that more than 200 Firefighters from Bulgaria, France, Germany, Romania, Norway and Finland are gradually being deployed in Greece for the two months of July-August and they contribute to the fire protection of our countryexchanging valuable know-how with their Greek colleagues.

This is a pilot program implemented through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, with the support of the European Commission and Commissioner Janez Lenarčič, responsible for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management.
