A fire broke out at noon on Friday in a wooded area at Distom of Boeotia. The fire front has erupted near the Distomo Health Center and Distomo Beach. Local authorities are calling for aerial support to contain the fire immediately, as the wind direction is towards the settlements “162”, White Houseswhile a second front has time to the Health Center.
According to the fire brigade, strong winds of 4-6 Beaufort are blowing at the site.
The fire is raging in a forest area and an olive grove, while a fire had broken out in the same area two years ago. “The fire is uncontrollable, a large area is burning. The front is over five kilometers. Forces have arrived and more are coming,” he said in Sky 100.3 the mayor of Distomos, Yannis Stathas.
Ground and air forces of the Fire Department have been mobilized, namely 50 firefighters with 16 vehicles and 1 group of pedestrians, 2 aircraft and 3 helicopters, while there is assistance from OTA water carriers.
