Petros Filippidis: The testimony of a friend of the woman who accuses him of rape

by

The witness testified before the Joint Jury that she had met the alleged victim minutes after the alleged rape incident

“I saw a man dark, speechless. As if something terrible had happened to her, as if she had lived the worst nightmare of her life,” she testified in the trial of Petros Filippidis the close friend of the third actress who denounces the group leader for attempted rape in 2014 inside the defendant’s car.

The witness testified before the Joint Jury that she had met the alleged victim, a few minutes after the alleged incident:

We met and when I saw her I was scared. The girl was another person. She was dark, speechless, thoughtful, as if something very terrible had happened to her. I asked her what happened and she was unable to answer. She only told me that she was miserable, that the meeting went badly and that he attacked her. She couldn’t speak, she was ready to cry. Since we had to go to the show I didn’t push her more at that time. Over the next few days, when he somewhat calmed down, he began to tell details. He told me he had a nightmare. It was the worst nightmare of her life and she wouldn’t wish this on anyone».

As the witness testified, her friend had arranged a business meeting with Filippidis and after that they had arranged for the two to meet. When her friend explained what had happened:I didn’t know what to do to help her, to relieve her, except to tell her that I believe her and I’m by her side. Somehow she wanted to go away, leave it behind, bury it, she felt like she was drowning. I advised her not to have any contact with this man».

Conveying what the complainant told her about her meeting with Filippidis, the witness testified:They met in a cafe to give him her resume, then Mr. Filippidis offered to take her home. A. refused but he was vertical, he did not accept objection. Wanting to be polite and hoping to discuss something more with him, she accepted. They started, but after a while it led her to a dead end, where he turned off the fuses…».

When asked if her friend then thought of denouncing Petros Filippidis, the witness answered “No! Fear prevailed. She was afraid that she would find it in front of her…“, while a little later he added: “It was a heinous sexual assault, but we didn’t know at the time how to handle it, given who the perpetrator was… What prevailed was the consequences this could have on her life and work. She weighed in on the fact that she should stay away, not do anything that could move against her…».

Today’s meeting was the last before the summer holidays. The trial will continue on September 1.
