Peristeri: The chronicle of the arrest of the 17-year-old’s partner – Her cell phone “betrayed” him

According to information from sources at the Ministry of Citizen Protection, the countdown to the arrest of the wanted Pakistani began when his mobile signal was detected in Northern Greece.

The stolen phone of 17-year-old Nicoleta who was brutally murdered in Peristeri, but also the close cooperation of the police authorities of Greece and North Macedonia, led to the arrest of the 21-year-old who was wanted from the first moment for the crime.

The alleged perpetrator of the murder, according to the Ministry of Citizen Protection, was spotted yesterday afternoon outside Skopje by the Police of the neighboring country, as he was wanted there as well, after contacts of the Greek Police with the police authorities of the Balkan countries, as there was information that the young man intended to cross the northern borders of the country.

In particular, as announced by the Ministry, from the first moment that the heinous murder of 17-year-old Nicoleta became known, the forces of EL.AS. were put on alert to locate the perpetrator, in Attica and throughout the country.

The competent services gathered information about his movements, according to which headed to Northern Greece in order to escape to Central European countries.

The police authorities of Northern Greece immediately contacted the corresponding services of the Balkan countries and there was continuous and close cooperation, while controls at the border crossings were strengthened.

As a result of the increased controls, a group of irregular immigrants was identified in North Macedonia yesterday afternoon, in which it was found that the alleged perpetrator of the heinous murder, who is of Pakistani origin, was also present.

According to information from sources of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, the countdown to capture of the wanted Pakistani began when his mobile signal was detected in Northern Greece.

The police considered it certain that he intended to leave the country by crossing the Northern border, that’s why message and photo of him sent to all services but also the authorities of the neighboring countries and especially of North Macedonia.

At some point, the 21-year-old turned off his cell phone and the signal was lost.

He had taken it with him though the mobile phone of 17-year-old Nicoleta, which was opened as soon as she crossed the territory of North Macedonia.

The girl’s badge was spotted immediately and the authorities of the neighboring country soon found its owner, among a group of illegal immigrants, and arrested him.

The 21-year-old handed himself over to the Greek Police and was transferred to Attica Security, from where will be taken today at noon to the competent Prosecutor.

It is recalled that 17-year-old Nicoleta was found dead in her home in Peristeri and according to the forensic report her death was asphyxiation and she had struggled with the assailant, who finally, after a fight, killed her by covering her mouth with his hands over her mouth and nose.
