What did the three former and current players of Triphyllio achieve in the last three years?
Andraz Sporar was acquired this summer by Panathinaikos. An extremely quality player, for whom there are quite a few expectations. With few training sessions with his new team, he played in the first two official games of the season for Clover, which were also of great importance.
In three halves, the Slovenian central striker managed to…open the dance of goals for this season in Panathinaikos. Sporar, with his own goal against Slavia Prague, became the Greens’ top scorer for the 2022-2023 season in an official match.
In the years that began and ended in the current decade, Panathinaikos’ first goal came again from a foreign player. Of course, because in recent years, there was no Europe in the team, the goals came later, in matches for the institution of the Super League.
More specifically, in 2020-2021 Triphylli found the net for the first time in the 3rd matchday of the Super League, against Larissa. The Greens led 0-1 with Federico Maceda anointed scorer. Shortly before the end of the game, the hosts equalized with Pinakas and thus, Panathinaikos, had not managed to leave with the “double”.
In 2021-2022, it wasn’t long before the first “green” goals arrived. In the premiere of the championship, Panathinaikos won 4-0 over Apollon Smyrna. The player who had “opened” the score was Mauricio, with the Brazilian midfielder making it 1-0 in the 30th minute of the game.
And in 2022-2023, as we already mentioned, in the 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague, for the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa Conference League, Sporar scored the first goal of the year for Ivan Jovanovic’s team. Unfortunately, this goal was not combined with the much-desired upset – qualification.
The… tradition that wants foreign players of Triphyllio to score the first official goals, in the seasons that started in the years of the current decade, for the time being… holds up well. Of course, it is still “early”, as we are only in 2022. In the future we will… see what the sequel has in store for us!
