Pope Francis is going to Lesvos today, accompanied by the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, to visit the Center
Reception and Identification in Kara Tepe in the context of his three-day visit to our country.

Yesterday, Saturday, the Primate of the Roman Catholic Church met with the state and political leadership, as well as with Archbishop Jerome.

Extraordinary traffic regulations will be in force today, while by order of the Police, the Metro station “Megaro Mousikis” will be closed from 12 noon. At the same time, gatherings scheduled for the afternoon are prohibited.

“Without Greece, Europe and the world would not be what they are today,” the pope said in a speech at the presidential palace.

The Pope had a private meeting with the President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who in her address stated that the visit indicates the high interest of the Pope for the region and the wider Mediterranean.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the Primate of the Roman Catholic Church on Saturday. The Prime Minister sent a message to the Pope and the Vatican, as Francisco’s sensitivity to immigrants is known, that the situation in immigration in our country has improved significantly.
