The 19-year-old naval cadet Thalia Kordambalou was buried with military honors in the Metropolitan Church of Agios Achillios. The naval cadet developed a fever while on a training trip to Italy, was taken to a hospital in Naples but unfortunately lost her battle for life.
Thalia Kordambalou was born in Larissa on July 3, 2002. She graduated from the 10th General High School of Larissa with an excellent overall grade of 19.7. In 2020 he participated in the Panhellenic exams and was admitted to the School of Finance and Statistics of the University of Piraeus. In 2021, she succeeded in being admitted to the Evelpidon Military School, while on October 4, 2021, she was ranked second in the Naval Cadet School. He was sworn in as a Naval Cadet on October 15, 2021, with a Machim specialty and with 22nd seniority among First Class mahims. On July 18, 2022, he was assigned to “Prometheus” as part of the Summer Training Course of the Naval Cadet School. On August 25, 2022, he passed away at Hospedale Del Mare in Naples, Italy.
“Today is a day of sadness and pain for all of us, for the entire Navy,” said the commander of the Naval Cadet School, Rear Admiral Ioannis Pattas, in his funeral speech. “In your short course at the School”, he added, “you managed to stand out for your ethos, dynamism and consistency”.
He continued: “As your last commanding officer, as well as the entire Navy family, we completely share your family’s pain and offer our deepest and most sincere condolences.” “You traveled with us to distant lands. We will remember you to be happy, to continue dancing with us and to fill us all with vitality, vitality and strength for life” said, among other things, in his funeral speech the leader of the Naval Cadets. And he added: “I know that the sea will be calm and peaceful on this last trip of yours. Good heaven. You will live forever in our hearts.”
Among others, the chief of the Naval General Staff vice-admiral Stylianos Petrakis, the commander of the Naval Cadet School Vice-Admiral Ioannis Pattas and classmates of Thalia from the Naval Cadet School were present at the ceremony.
