Theodorikakos to SKAI: The message to Turkey is that no one can cross the Evros

Recently, Turkey has been implementing an asymmetric threat against our country, attempting a brutal and immoral exploitation of unhappy people, irregular immigrants, whom it pushes to cross from Greece to Europe, said the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, speaking on the Kalimera show with Giorgos Autias.

Mr. Theodorikakos reiterated that only in August 40,000 illegal immigrants tried to cross the Evros, since the beginning of the year this number has reached 150,000.

“The message is one, no one crosses Evros illegally, we will not allow it,” he pointed out.

He added that Turkey provokes with tactics and provocations such as those that migrants were allegedly found on a rock island in Greek territory.

“We” he added “check in every case, they couldn’t pass them obviously” he said.

The borders are guarded 24 hours a day in a decisive manner by the police and the army, and this must be taken into account by Erdogan, he added.

He continued by saying that there is no doubt that when we are talking about so many tens of thousands of people, this is guided by the Turkish side, while he estimated that the phenomenon will continue.

Turkey brutally and immorally uses immigration as a tool to blackmail Europe and Greece, he emphasized and added that Greece is a powerful state of law, which applies International Law and its borders are inaccessible.

Mr. Theodorikakos pointed out that the country is implementing the Akritas project throughout the Evros and added that the Europeans should support this effort.
