In Sunday’s Alimos Classic Motorbike Sunday 2, the entire history of the motorcycle in our country unfolds

With a record number of entries (183 classic as well as modern impressive cars) and a record number of spectators (around 25,000 within a few hours), Alimos Classic Car Sunday 3 made history. Now, on Sunday September 18, the Alimos promenade will be handed over to… care 100 classic motorcycles. For the second impressive event, the Municipality of Alimos, the Hellenic Classic Motorcycle Friends Club and Nikos Mastorakis are responsible.

As rare as the four-wheeled beauties, and with six-figure prices, the motorcycles that will come to Alimo look like they came out of an American movie. They are 50, 60, maybe even 70 years old, and yet they still roar on the tarmac and most pass tyrannical tests, such as the Classic Endurance, which takes place in the heart of winter for three days, with over 1000 km of routes in mountains and roads, often off the map, pushing both riders and machines to their limits. More relaxed and more everyday, are their regular organized walks, small rallies and participation in social events.

The Club has 600 members with corresponding two-wheeled “griulis” which, however, contrary to what their … registry deed says, their hearts say so.

In Sunday’s Alimos Classic Motorbike Sunday 2, the entire history of the motorcycle in our country unfolds, with representative models of the biggest factories, from well-known BMWs to the relatively unknown, to the non-expert, Norton Commando. And, of course, those two-wheelers that some call “funny” but which are the curious and worthy type of motorcycle.

The Mayor of Alimos, Andreas Kondylis, said: “For the second year, we are dedicating a Sunday to the history of the classic motorcycle that has nothing to envy from the corresponding classic cars. The 100 “machines” of the event, just to hear them “marching” scares someone, if he has not realized how much power these symbols of freedom and courage hide inside them.

“I admire them, I admit them, I’m afraid of them” says Nikos Mastorakis “and while I don’t remember ever seriously getting on a two-wheeler that… moves, both they and the easy riders, as we saw them in the well-known American movies, challenge me awe (but no shock) and admiration for the almost unbelievable symbiosis of man-machine, which we do not see in other motor vehicles.”
And this Sunday for Alimos will be a carefree fiesta, with hard rock music (where the visitor will also hear all the classic “hymns” written for motto) with roasted corn, ice creams and balloons welcoming the visitors from 2: 00 until 7:30.
