A large cannabis plantation, which consisted of 2,440 seedlings, was detected by the police officers of the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Patras Security in an inaccessible forested area of ​​Zagora Magnesia, while the investigations to locate the cultivators are ongoing.

In particular, according to the police, for the seizure and eradication of the saplings, a large-scale police operation was organized and implemented on Tuesday, in an inaccessible forest area of ​​Zagora Magnesia, by the police officers of the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Patras Security Sub-Directorate, with the assistance of police officers of E.K.A.M., of O.P.K.E. of the Security Sub-Directorate of Patras, OPKE and the Drug Prosecution Department of the Volos Security Sub-Directorate.

The police found an organized plantation, where (2440) cannabis seedlings were being grown in full growth, three dryers and (13) kilograms of the narcotic substance, recently harvested.

The perpetrators they would have a total cannabis harvest of at least two -2- tons and four hundred and forty -440- kilograms, while the expected monetary benefit (along with the quantities of cannabis seized) would range from -7,360,000- to -9,812,000 – euros.

The plantation was cultivated in a specially designed area, surrounded by natural cover, from dense forest vegetation, with a total area of ​​five hectares, divided into four levels, which communicated with each other with improvised paths, while the growers had installed irrigation hoses, with a total length of about five kilometers , which resulted in two improvised water collection tanks, fed by a stream.

Digging tools (pickaxes, hoes, shovels, saws) and fertilizers, which were used to care for the cannabis seedlings, were found and confiscated in the area of ​​the plantation.

Two improvised wooden structures with nine improvised beds, a number of clothes and bedding were found next to the cultivated fields. Two improvised specially designed areas were also found with a lot of cooking utensils, cans, other food, as well as bottles and gas stoves.

The items were collected as evidence by the Criminal Investigations Office of the Magnesia Police Department, both from the plant cultivation area and from the place of temporary residence and focus of the perpetrators and will be sent to the Criminal Investigations Department for laboratory tests.

The preliminary investigation work is carried out by the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Patras Security Sub-Directorate, while the case file that is formed will be submitted to the Misdemeanor Prosecutor of Volos.
