Municipality of Athens: With one “click” opening a family share and settlement of debts – 33 new electronic services

The citizens of Athens now have the possibility to open a family share and register their children, submit an application for re-municipalization, but also settle their debts to the municipality electronically. These are 4 out of a total of 33 new, useful, services that have recently been added to the digital agenda of the Municipality of Athens, now reaching 150 – a number that corresponds to approximately 80% of all services. The goal, by the end of 2022, is to have digitized all the services provided by the municipality to residents and professionals of the city, so that in this way the problem of bureaucracy will be substantially reduced.

“In the era of speed, we also have to follow the fast pace. From the very first moment, we worked to change the way we interact with citizens, to eliminate time-consuming procedures and to facilitate their daily life. The digitization of our services, which will be completed by the end of the year, is the end of bureaucracy and an important achievement of the Municipality of Athens for the benefit of its citizens”, states in his statement Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis.

The electronic services platform of the municipality (https://eservices.cityofathens.gr) created by the Computerization Development Company (DAEM S.A.) and constantly upgraded, serves hundreds of citizens every day who turn to it to look for certificates, attestations and documents, avoiding hassle and wasted time in queues.

Already, the response recorded is very great, as more than 400 applications are submitted online every day. In fact, according to DAEM data, over 2.5 years, more than 175,000 citizens and businesses have registered on the platform, while more than 215,000 applications have been processed online to date.

What are the 33 new online services?

On the page https://eservices.cityofathens.gr, Athenians now have at their disposal the following new services:

• Opening of a family portion due to marriage or cohabitation agreement (married before 18/01/2018)
• Enrollment of a child in the family portion (born before 18/01/2018)
• Relocation, due to two years of residence in the Municipality of Athens
• Post-publication, due to recovery of initial popularity
• Remarketing to regain original popularity
• Deletion from the register of males, due to correction of data in the birth certificate from “male” to “female”
• Registration in the register of males, due to correction of data in the birth certificate from “female” to “male”
• Debt settlement application (L.4152/2013)
• License to operate stores trading, renting and selling used clothing, clothing and footwear
• License for recreational – technical games with playing cards
• Replacement of license to establish and operate an entertainment center
• License to establish and operate a conservatory
• Amendment of conservatory license
• Initial license or new activity for online service offering stores
• Transfer of license for internet service offering shop
• Application for the granting of a certificate for the installation at the specific location of a store of health interest
• Issuance of a certificate announcing the occupation of a barber, hairdresser and nail technician
• Renewal of certificate of declaration of occupation of barber, hairdresser and nail technician due to change of identity
• Renewal of certificate of declaration of occupation of barber, hairdresser and nail technician due to change of expiry date
• Pre-approval for the installation and operation of an entertainment and recreational education center (amusement park, car tracks, circus, etc.)
• Pre-approval for the installation and operation of a playground
• Extended music opening hours
• Change of certificate for the installation at the specific location of a health care store
• License to establish and operate a moped and bicycle rental shop
• Application for executives and building permit files from the year 1965 to 1973 for the Municipality of Athens
• Application for executives and building permit files from the year 1973 to 1985 for the Municipality of Athens
• Application for executives and building permit files from the year 1985 to 1995 for the Municipality of Athens
• Application for property address identification certificate
• Submitting a complaint of arbitrary constructions or dangerous construction
• Application for acceptance of arbitrary fine and 30% discount on construction fine
• Application for the cancellation/suspension of fines for arbitrary constructions (L.4178/13 or L.4495/17)
• Complainant’s objection/appeal for arbitrary/dangerous construction
• Request for a copy of the file

It is noted that the entrance to the platform is done using the taxisnet codes. With a few “clicks”, interested parties have the possibility to submit their application, “upload” the necessary supporting documents and be informed electronically – via the digital box – when their request is routed by the relevant municipality department. Accordingly, they receive their document or certificate electronically, without the need – at any stage – to come to any of the municipality’s services.
