“Mammoth hash plantation” in Crete – They planted 1,150 saplings in the area of ​​the Savvathianon Monastery

Cover and God’s blessing were apparently sought by the perpetrators of the very well-organized hashish plantation that police officers of the Heraklion Narcotics Prosecution found in a wooded area owned by the Savvathian Monastery, high up on the mountain.

The hashish growers were really up to big business and had set up a whole facility with a makeshift water tank, dryer and also an observatory in order to control the slightest up and down movement in the area.

It is a huge plantation that was developed in two parts and consisted of 1150 saplings, up to three meters high, in full maturity.

It is estimated that the production of dried hemp would be close to one ton.

In addition to the hundreds of saplings, the police officers of the Heraklion Narcotics Prosecution also found 27 kilograms of dried cannabis in the observation post they had set up on the opposite slope, northwest of the hash plantation, at a distance of 800 meters in a straight line.

However, in order to approach the observatory one had to make a complete circle.

According to information, the perpetrators had built a makeshift water tank with a capacity of ten cubic meters, while they had created a nylon canopy and directly underneath they had spread wires in a linear system to dry the plants. Professionals and geeks!

The police forces had spotted the plantation for days, which they discreetly monitored, and today at dawn they proceeded with the “clearing” operation.

In order to be able to reach the area and open a road, wood cutters were recruited. The saplings were loaded onto a truck, hand in hand, as part of a human chain formed by the police.

As described, the hash plantation had grown quite far from the arable lands of the Monastery. More there is wild forest vegetation. The perpetrators had cleaned the area where they cultivated the saplings.

DNA and adducts

Information from Cretalive states that there have already been arrests of people who are active in the wider area of ​​the hashish plantation.

These are people mainly from the area of ​​Rodia and the area of ​​Fodele.

Both inside the plantation and in the observatory, a number of findings were found, cigarette butts, cans, cups and many other objects, which will be sent for fingerprints and DNA to the forensic laboratories of EL.AS. “We are confident that the perpetrators will be found,” a police source told Cretalive, stressing that investigations and arrests will continue.
