A license to establish a watercourse in the area of ​​Kyllini Port was granted by a Joint Ministerial Decision of the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for Transport Mr. Michalis Papadopoulos, the Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy Mr. Ioannis Plakiotakis and the Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Apostolos Vesyropoulos.

With this specific decision, the “Municipal Port Fund of Kyllini” can take the actions provided by law for the construction of all the required facilities of the watercourse, in order, subsequently, to submit the request for an operating license.

Establishment licenses have also been granted to the waterways of Ios, Volos, Rethymnon and Kalamata, while Corfu and Paxos have licenses to establish and operate a waterway and compliance with the license to operate the waterway in Patras is underway.

At the same time, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is examining another 23 requests for licenses for waterways, of which 18 concern the granting of an establishment license and five for an establishment and operation license (Skyros, Alonissos, Skopelos, Patmos and Tinos).

On the occasion of the establishment permit certification at the Kyllini water park, Mr. Papadopoulos stated:

“The region of the Western Peloponnese today acquires the conditions for the creation of an additional infrastructure, which will allow the operation of yet another means of transport at the port of Kyllini. Together with Kalamata, Corfu and Paxos, as well as Patras, a network is steadily developing that can support seaplane flights in the wider region, which has seen rapid tourism development in recent years.”
