How will you know that your plants need watering?

by

Gardening has become one of the biggest trends especially after the quarantine, since they offer well-being, color and life at home and in our lives

Having many different plants naturally requires different care and conditions for it and it is important to have a schedule for watering, pruning, fertilizing and protection from the weather.

Nevertheless, there are some fixed rules and tips for their care, and especially for their watering.

So, we have put together some tips for you to know and see when they really need watering because some need frequent watering, while some more sparsely.

#1. The soil looks dry

The first and most important indication that they need water is the dry soil, however it is good to pay more attention to this. It may appear dry on the surface but a little below it may be wet and you overload it with unnecessary water. The only exception that when it looks dry applies across the board, are succulents. In all the rest it is good to put your finger in the soil and confirm the moisture of the soil that way.

#2. The plant leans and withers

When you see it weakened, dehydrated and its leaves have fallen, it is definitely a sign that it needs water.

#3. Leaves turn brown at the edges

The texture and color of its leaves show a lot about the health of the plant in general, so when you see them turning yellow or brown, it means that it is thirsty.

#4. It’s not growing like it used to

The growth of plants, like the rest of organisms, is based on nutrients and water. When it gets dehydrated, it slows down its growth rate because it conserves water and nutrients so that it doesn’t dry out completely, so it’s a good idea to water it a little more often.

How to restore hydration to your plants?

It is good not to overdo it because instead of helping it, it is possible that the roots will go into shock and it will finally wither. Give a moderate amount of water simply more often so that it gradually hydrates and restores its original and healthy image.

Some plants benefit from watering in the soil, others by wetting their foliage, while others prefer soaking in water for a few minutes to absorb as much as they really need.

That’s why it’s good to consult an expert about the conditions each plant needs to always be healthy and blooming, and ideally you can divide them into groups and take care of them that way to be more formal and consistent.
