The rescue operation of three workers at the Bauxite Mines of the IMERYS company in Variani has been completed, where one more worker, a 40-year-old engineer, died after a rock fell inside the central gallery of the Mines. The unfortunate 40-year-old from Lamia was pulled out unconscious and taken to the Amfissa hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to Mr. Tsiorlidas, the firefighters and workers “fought for 3 more people who could not get out of the gallery”. “They were freed and are in good health” as he said and thus the operation has been completed in which 14 firefighters of the 7th EMAK from Lamia and 26 firefighters from Amfissa participated with 8 vehicles.
