The rescued migrants from the shipwreck that occurred in Friligianika have been transferred to the village Kythera on Wednesday night when a sailboat carrying 95 migrants ran aground near the port of Diakofti.

The island’s residents have already shown their solidarity with the people by collecting basic necessities and giving them blankets and quilts.

According to the announcement by the Coast Guard shortly after 11:15 on Thursday morning, 80 foreigners have so far been rescued in Kythira, of which 62 adults (55 men and 7 women) and 18 minors, while 11 of the rescued were transferred to the Kythira General Hospital , for further medical control.
