Thessaloniki: Another conviction for revenge pornography – 3.5 years for the perpetrator

Another case of revenge pornography occupied the courts of Thessaloniki, this time with a 39-year-old accused, who sat in the bench of the Three-member Misdemeanor Court, because he leaked a video with strictly private moments of his 29-year-old ex-partner on a pornographic website.

The defendant was sentenced to a total of 3.5 years in prison, with three years suspended, as he was found guilty of breach of personal data and defamation.

According to the victim, she discovered the material in question in December 2018, when she was informed by a person close to her. It had preceded just a short time earlier, their separation after a five-year relationship.

During the closed-door trial, the 29-year-old reportedly complained that the defendant still possesses material in which she is depicted and refuses to give it to her.

In his statement, the defendant reportedly denied the charges, stressing that the material was produced during their relationship and that everything was done by mutual consent.

The 39-year-old appealed the decision and was released.
