Visit of Nikos Dendias to Malta

During his stay in Valletta, the Foreign Minister will be received by the President of Malta, George Vella.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, will pay a visit on Monday, 10 October 2022, to the Republic of Malta (Valletta), where he will hold talks with the Maltese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ian Borg.

The two Foreign Ministers will have a one-on-one meeting, which will be followed by extended talks between the two delegations. The two Foreign Ministers are expected to make joint statements to the press around 12:30 (Greece time).

The Foreign Minister will then have a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Malta, Anglu Farrugia.

During his stay in Valletta, the Foreign Minister will be received by the President of Malta, George Vella.

The discussions of the Minister of Foreign Affairs during his visit to Malta are expected to cover a wide range of issues, such as the prospects for further strengthening of bilateral relations, the cooperation of the two countries in the EU and the immigration-refugee issue. In addition, the talks are expected to focus on international and regional developments, such as the situation in Ukraine after the Russian invasion, as well as developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Libya.

It is about for the second visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Valletta. The first took place in February 2020, while it was followed by a visit to Athens by the then Melita Foreign Minister, Evarist Bartolo, in September 2020.
