The new service is now available on gov.gr, in the “Citizen and everyday life” section and the “Transportation” sub-section.
The ability to submit digitally application for reduction or cancellation of the fine that was imposed on them when using fixed track means (Metro, Electric Railway, Tram) citizens have since Thursday. According to the Joint Ministerial Decision of the Ministers of Infrastructure and Transport Kostas Karamanlis and State and Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the new service is now available on gov.gr, in the section “Citizens and everyday life” and the sub-section “Transports”.
Using the service is very simple. First, the citizen connects with Taxisnet codes and is asked to fill in the number of the fine imposed on him and the date of the violation, as indicated on the certificate of violation form. Then, he selects from the available list the reasons for which he requests the reduction or deletion of the fine, while he can describe in more detail the reasons he cites, filling in the corresponding field. Finally, if he wishes, he can attach documents that support his claims (valid personalized card, partial exemption card, etc.).
The process is completed by submitting the application to the Digital Mailbox of the Fixed Transport Company (STASY SA) at gov.gr. After the completion of the processing, the citizen is informed of the result of his application by SMS and email, while the relevant decision is also sent to his digital inbox (my.gov.gr).
It is clarified that the request for cancellation or reduction of fine should be submitted strictly within sixty (60) calendar days from the next of its enforcement. In addition, the submission of the application does not suspend the ten-day deadline for paying half of the fine.
The design and development of the service was done by STASY SA, the National Technology and Research Infrastructure Network (EDYTE SA – GRNET) and the General Secretariat of Digital Governance and Process Simplification of the Ministry of Digital Governance. Citizens’ information is obtained through the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat of Public Administration Information Systems.
