National multi-branch post-troop exercise with the participation of personnel and means of the three branches of the Armed Forces, as well as the Special Warfare Command (SWCA) of the General Directorate of Defense.
The medium-scale electronic warfare exercise named “True Horse – 2022” was conducted from October 17 to 21 in the wider area west of the Peloponnese and south of the Ionian Sea.
As announced today by the General Directorate of Military Operations, it is a national multi-branch post-troop exercise with the participation of personnel and media from the three branches of the Armed Forces, as well as the Special Warfare Command (DEP) of the General Directorate of Military Operations.
The following participated in the exercise:
– From the Army, all available systems and means of communications, electronic warfare and electronic surveillance, anti-aircraft systems, Apache AH-64A attack helicopters, as well as Chinook CH-47D transport helicopters.
– From the Navy, the frigate “Elli”, the fast guided missile patrol boat “Roussin” as well as an S-70B helicopter.
– From the Air Force, anti-aircraft systems, Rafale fighter jets, F-16 Block 50, Mirage 2000-5 as well as an EMB – 145H aircraft of the 380 Airborne Early Warning and Control System Squadron (ASEPE).
– From the Special Warfare Command, Special Operations teams of the 32nd TAX PN, the 7th MAK, the ETA and the 31st MEED.
– Observers from the General Staff of the National Guard of the Republic of Cyprus.
The exercise, the announcement added, was carried out in parallel with the current Training Series of the School of Tactical Weapons (SOT), which takes place at the headquarters of the Air Tactics Center at the Andravida air base and aimed to design and practice the participants in the conduct of Interbranch Operations of Electronic Warfare, in the testing of the Interbranch Electronic Warfare Command and Control System of the Armed Forces as well as in increasing the operational and combat capability of the trainees, through operational training in a realistic and adapted to multiple threat environment.
