The former ND minister, Aristotelis Pavlidis, has died


After a hard battle with serious health problems

He passed away today, Tuesday at the age of 79, after a hard battle with serious health problems, the former Minister and for a number of years Member of Parliament for Dodecanese of the New Republic Aristotelis Pavlidis.

He was born in Pyli, Kos and studied at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Athens, graduating in 1966. He then moved to London to study business administration at the Polytechnic there.

He is the son of Antonio Pavlidis, originally from Asia Minor, and Maritsa An. Anastasiou, nee Hatzigiakoumi, from Pyli, Kos. The grandfather of Aristotle Pavlidis came from Makri in Asia Minor and the grandmother of Angelikos Chatzidimitriou from Mylassa in Asia Minor as well.

In 1977, she was elected as the first Member of Parliament for the Dodecanese with the support of New Democracy.[4] Since then he has been elected continuously with the exception of the 1996 elections, when he failed to be elected. In 1977 and 1979 he was elected secretary of the parliament and in 1982 its dean. In the governments of Tzhannetakis[5] and Mitsotakis was deputy minister of finance and in the period 1990 – 1992 minister of commercial shipping.
